Koma-Mail

You won’t have to jump through hoops to install this email client but, sadly, you’re on your own in setting it up and using it. As soon as you unzip Koma-Mail’s files you can launch the program without installation. The interface is fairly standard with a tree-style list of folders for your inbox, outbox, trash, and spam on the left. Emails are listed to the right, with contents of a selected email displayed in the lower pane. Familiar buttons let you create, send, forward, and reply to emails. A file header menu offers many of the same features but also includes Options, which is where you can set-up user accounts and add external email account information to receive notifications through Koma-Mail. While a few hints are displayed after installation, no help file or other user guidance is offered. You’ll be on your own in specifying the connection, server, and other information needed to get Komo-Mail hooked up and ready to go. The main benefit of this app is that it’s offered as freeware, allowing savvier users to set up new email accounts and monitor other accounts at no charge.
