SpeedBit Video Downloader downloads videos from sites like YouTube, Dailymotion, and other Flash video providers without making the task needlessly complicated. Speedbit delighted us with its ease of use; there was no trial and error, no need to consult the Help file, no guessing about how to proceed. We simply clicked a few buttons to download and convert our desired content. If you use Firefox or Internet Explorer, downloading Flash videos doesn’t get much easier than this.
Once installed, SpeedBit Video Downloader appeared as a toolbar at the top of Firefox and Internet Explorer. There are a few items here that aren’t relevant or needed — links to Amazon, a custom search tool, and a translation utility — but we’re almost willing to overlook these considering how much we like the program otherwise. To download a video, simply navigate to the content you want and then click the Download and Convert Video button. The program will quickly download the video as an FLV file; if you install the optional conversion tool.
it will also convert it to the format of your choice, including MOV, WMV, AVI, and other popular formats. If you only want to capture the audio track from a video, the converter also has an MP3 option. We tried downloading content from several different sites and converted it to multiple different formats, encountering no problems. The program doesn’t come with much in the way of documentation, but that’s OK; it’s virtually foolproof. Overall, we found SpeedBit Video Downloader to be a quick, easy way to download and convert video, and we recommend it.
