Fastream NetFile FTP Client
It’s no fun when your FTP client crashes before the party’s even begun. Though this lightweight program has all the bells and whistles required of a basic FTP client, it’s plagued with stability issues. Fastream NetFile is probably best suited to managing small sites, as it has no automation options, such as scheduling or macros. It also doesn’t support advanced FTP features, such as allowing secure transfers or automatically synchronizing remote and local directories. On the positive side, it’s easy to flip from tab to tab when working with multiple FTP sites and downloading multiple files at once. The program automatically caches directories so browsing FTP sites is superfast. However, we weren’t big fans of the dialog windows that popped up for each transfer, and the screen flickers while directories refreshed frankly made us a bit nervous. Fastream isn’t the most stable friend; during testing, we were kicked off connections a handful of times, and had to struggle with even more error messages. The program crashed several times. If you don’t mind the unpredictablity, this freeware program might suffice for the occasional FTP transfer.
